How to Shop for a Thumb Drive

The first thing to look at is the connector. Most computers are still using USB A connectors. The vast majority of thumb drives uphold this standard. If you have a brand new computer, especially if it’s a Macbook, chances are you’ll need to look for a USB C flash drive to be able to plug it in. USB C is way faster so this is actually great news.

The next thing you should look at is the storage size. If you want a thumb drive that will last for a few years, you are going to want to get at least 32 GB. At these prices it might make sense to go all the way up to 128 GB.

The last thing to check is the USB version. A higher version like USB 3.1 will result in faster speeds because this is a newer standard. Additionally, you should look for the read/write speeds of the flash drive. Some of them can be slow, which is a problem if you are transferring large amounts of data.

Overall, there are some great deals on thumb drives for Black Friday this year. You should be able to find one for your needs. We expect many more flash drives to be discounted on Amazon over the next few days.
